Bono the lead vocalist of the band was born as Paul David Hewson. He was born on the 10th May in the year1960 in the region called Glasnevinin the Irish city of Dublin. He is commonly known by his adapted stage name and not by the name of Paul David Hewson as was bestowed upon him by his parents. As it can be understood, Bono was both born and raised in the capital Dublin in Ireland. He later attended Mount Temple Comprehensive School. This is the institute where he met up with a girl named Ali whom he would later marry.

The Mount Temple Comprehensive School was also the place where he met the future members of the band U2. He has been called by the moniker of Bono which happened to be his stage as well as his nickname, by his family and others. He was also called ‘Bono’ by his fellow band members since he reached adolescence. Bono happens to write almost every lyric for U2. The lyrical themes as adopted by Bono include political, social as well as religious styles. Initially at an early stage, his lyrics dealt with the rebellious styles of U2. With time the band started adopting more mature themes and subsequently the lyrics that Bono wrote also somewhat became more personal and often dealt with the experiences that he shared with the members of U2.

Bono is also known for his outstanding work outside the U2 circle and he is a well known social worker who has been recognized by some of the best institutes as well as by organizations of the entire world. Bono is known to have collaborated as well as recorded with a large number of artists and has given birth to several fascinating musical tastes. Apart from that he is also known for sits on the board of the famous Elevation Partners. He has also refurbished and partially owns The Clarence along with fellow U2 mate The Edge.

Bono is largely known for various active campaigns and social causes especially concerning Africa and do so he eventually co-founded organizations like the DATA, EDUN, the ONE Campaign and The Product Red. He has also organized as well as played in many benefit concerts. He has also met with a large gamut of very influential politicians. Bono has been both praised as well as criticized for his activism as well as his involvement with his band U2. Surely one of his greatest achievements has to be his nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize. He has been granted a knighthood on an honorary basis by the Queen Elizabeth II who as we all know represents the United Kingdom. Bono aka Paul David Hewson was named the Person of the Year by none other than the Time Magazine. He also has a vast gamut of other awards and nominations in his repertoire. Bono continues to play and write lyrics for his band U2 and is known all over the world for his immense enthusiasm and activism in social causes.
